Capturing the imagination of students every day isn’t easy, but we’re making it possible. In collaboration with Philadelphia educators, GPA has produced an enormous slate of local heritage and global lesson plans. Each plan is benchmarked to state standards and is reviewed by education professionals.
Our lesson plans are aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and are organized by standard code. Each lesson includes the relevant CCSS codes to help you identify the appropriate grade and subject area. We recommend using your district’s standards chart or a CCSS reference to quickly match codes to your class levels. This approach ensures flexibility in adapting lessons to meet your students' specific needs.

Philadelphia was the first major city to mandate an African American history graduation requirement. While many districts around the country require African-American history be infused in U.S. history courses, Philadelphia is the only major district that requires a full year of study.
Philadelphia is widely considered the birthplace of the United States. Independence Hall, where America's Founding Fathers crafted the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, is Philadelphia’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our World History lesson plans help young learners explore the global forces that shaped civilizations. With a local lens and global reach, these lessons encourage students to see how world history connects to their own lives and communities.
The demand for fresh and creative resources continues, a need highlighted by the enthusiastic response to GPA’s education newsletters. The newsletter offers new ideas, activities and project inspirations for classrooms throughout the school year.
