Sustainable Development Goals

How do I teach students about the Sustainable Development Goals?

GPA and local partners have created a comprehensive set of murals to raise awareness of the 17 SDGs and, combined with financial contributions to local nonprofit organizations, this effort truly exemplifies the shared goals of the communities that make up this historic city.

Along with the SDG Murals, GPA has developed lesson plans intended to guide educators and students in advocating for sustainability. All lessons are free to download.

What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At the center of this agenda are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In participation with the SDGs, Global Philadelphia Association launched a unique, multi-layered initiative that brings together a creative mix of ingredients:

  • The interpretive power of art
  • The knowledge and resources of our local academic communities
  • The strong will of corporate and individual sponsors
  • And more....
