World Heritage Education Program

The World Heritage Education Program, is dedicated to preparing children for a rapidly globalizing world by helping them explore their own and others’ cultures through art, history, and community connection. Through this program, students are empowered to become stewards of their cultural identity while learning to appreciate the diverse stories that shape Philadelphia and its global connections.The goal of the World Heritage Education Program is to educate Philadelphia’s youth to be global kids with roots.

Education Program Objectives

Promote heritage conservation and stewardship

Instill a sense of pride in one’s own cultural heritage

Encourage local and global civic participation

Challenge ethnocentric assumptions and build appreciation for diversity

Develop global competency and intercultural communication skills

Promote inclusion of the history and culture of marginalized populations in heritage education
